Alright everyone, be sure to be checking back in this blog over the weekend as I come back with the latest and greatest from FanimeCon 2007.
Day 0- It's about 5 PM, Frank's yelling at me about some giveaway thing and I'm frantically packing my things. I've got a bus to catch in about 90 minutes that will take me to the San Jose Diridon, from there I'll hop on a light-rail to the convention center and Fanime will officially have started for me! Of course, no panels or anything will be posted tonight as there aren't many events going on, but I'll give you my initial impressions and maybe catch some cool cosplays.
Day 0 Wrapup/ Day 1- So, yesterday I arrived around 7 PM...the line was still gigantic. After conversing with a former Stanford grad student in line (he works at Nividia now) I finally received my shiny pre-registration badge! That night they were having a special concert by ZZ (a Jrock band that they brought in for their Musicfest event, there are many other bands that will be playing over the weekend and I will try to bring news of those bands as they perform). Other than the concert there wasn't much going on...I did see Ric Meyers wandering around though. For those of you who don't know who Ric Meyers is, I'll just say that he is one of the most prominent experts on Asian films in America. I will be sure to cover his panel this weekend!
Now we're on Day 1 officially. Today I'll be covering Gainax's panel at around 3 PM and hopefully be meeting the President of the company himself, Mr. Hiroyuki Yamaga.
I've settled into my room, my stuff is all set up and I"m ready for 4 days of anime, panels and fun! Oh, and work too.
Remember to check back as the weekend goes on! Pictures will be forthcoming!
UPDATE: I'm not dead... I am still coverin the convention. I'm just very busy so I will be providing comprehensive coverage of the Convention come Monday night PST.
Thanks for being patient.
Jeremy Snow is the Anime Editor and has been very busy. He will return with plenty of reviews very shortly!!
