It isn't hard to deny that the Guitar Hero series of games changed the gaming landscape in the last few years. It took a nation of coach dwellers to guitar players.

Unfortunately, the Red Octane SG guitar is at a short 6 feet. The distance is fine if you still game on a 20 inch TV using RCA cables and have your PS2 hooked up in the den. Realistically, with people who are able to afford $70 Playstation SKU are more than likely to afford to have their Playstation 2 hooked up to a living room environment where the couch is soft, the TV is about 20 feet away, and two to four foot traffic is constant.

Thankfully there is the emerging market for wireless Guitar Hero 2 compatible controllers, and the Nyko Front Man Wireless Guitar fits the bill. Touting at an impressive twenty five feet of operating distance and having responsive controls, the Nyko Front Man is an axe to be reckoned with. Even though Red Octane has a white wireless guitar in the market, the Front Man shares the same red and black color scheme as the PS2 Guitar Hero 2 game and touts a similar shape to the lustworthy Xbox 360 X-plorer guitar controller.

This is one sweet axe

The whammy bar is bi-directonal and analog so that your fingers wouldn't get in the way of strumming the perfect notes.

Not only the Front Man Wireless Guitar comes with 3 AA batteries for 80 hours of gameplay, the Front Man also functions as a USB rechargeable battery recharger. When you want to recharge your batteries, all you have to do is insert three AA rechargeable batteries into the Front Man, attach the included 6 foot SIXASIS and PSP compatible USB cable, and get ready to rock.

Even though I am no expert at Guitar Hero, I am an expert at wireless controllers (due to a gig in my former life) and the Front Man Wireless Guitar responds just as fast as any wired controller. Outside of the Guitar Hero series; it is possible to play other musical rhythm games for the Playstation family of consoles, like Amplitude, but you have to disconnect the Front Man Wireless Guitar to reconfigure the controller to suit it the face button and up and down only scheme.

A guitar strap is also included with the Front Man Wireless Guitar and the build is comfortable for both casual sit down play and rocking out on the stage.

You can find this at your favorite retail or online store

Thank goodness that the Guitar Hero games can be bought without the Red Octane Guitar, since the Front Man Wireless Guitar is a great starting controller to use since you do not have to deal with wires. As for people who already spend the dough on wired guitars, do not let the third party status deter you from making the purchase. Sending money on the Front Man Wireless Guitar is an experience that you will not regret You will thank me that you do not have to stand 6 feet or use dangerous extension cables anymore.
